Sommet | Gnomon does not establish authority, determine admissibility, govern custody, or create meaning.
Its office is to preserve the reference necessary for faithful measurement through change.

Sommet Gnomon takes its posture from Jacob's act at Bethel.
He comes to a place.
He acknowledges it.
He names it.
He marks it so that it may be found again.
Encounter becomes reference.
Reference makes orientation possible.
Orientation makes measurement possible.
Measurement makes faithful stewardship possible.
Sommet | Gnomon’s measurements must remain auditable.
Measurement never becomes sovereignty.
GNOMON therefore asks whether present reality remains traceably related to what has already been established.
It compares identity with provenance, continuity with lineage, stewardship with standing, and present articulation with preserved reference.
Its purpose is not sameness.
Change is expected.
Difference is not drift.
Drift begins where the relation between present state and established reference can no longer be faithfully accounted for.
GNOMON therefore measures across the longest recoverable thread of continuity.
The longest thread is not necessarily the oldest.
It is the one that most faithfully preserves the relation among identity, provenance, state, and change.
GNOMON does not publish reality into existence.
It does not command correction merely because it detects deviation.
It measures.
Its reference must be recoverable.
Its observations must remain distinguishable from interpretation.
Its methods must be visible.
A civilization cannot preserve what it can no longer distinguish.
GNOMON exists so that what has been faithfully established may remain faithfully recognizable through time.
Canonical Principle
Reference precedes measurement.
Measurement establishes relation.
Deviation does not establish defect.
Correction requires authority beyond measurement.
