ANTI-DRIFT

Left uncorrected, drift erodes provenance, obscures standing, fractures continuity, and eventually renders constituted reality indistinguishable from its approximations.

GNOMON exists to measure that divergence before it becomes structural failure.

The Federation therefore preserves distinguishability before it preserves agreement.

Only that which remains constitutionally distinguishable may circulate faithfully across time.

The Parallax Knot

The Parallax Knot is the constitutional condition in which multiple interpretations remain simultaneously admissible while no longer remaining constitutionally distinguishable.

It is not ambiguity in the ordinary sense.

It is structural ambiguity.

A Parallax Knot exists when two or more interpretations are:

• equally supported by the available evidence;

• equally consistent with the observable model;

• equally admissible within the current semantic frame;

yet remain mutually incompatible.

No additional interpretation resolves the conflict.

Every interpretation preserves one aspect of reality while obscuring another.

The constitutional identity of the subject begins to dissolve.

This condition is not poetic.

It is mechanically observable.

It appears whenever a system can no longer preserve distinguishability through its existing reference frame.

The result is not merely misunderstanding.

It is constitutional drift.

In machine intelligence this condition often appears as hallucination.

The model has not become irrational.

It has encountered a semantic geometry in which multiple continuations remain equally probable while no constitutional mechanism exists to distinguish among them.

The system therefore ceases to converge.

It begins to interpolate.

By preserving constituted reference, provenance, continuity, and constitutional distinguishability, GNOMON reduces the probability that semantic movement will enter parallax.

The purpose is not to eliminate uncertainty.
